HARD ShELL BOOTS

OVER REACH (BELL)BOOTS

Which size boot fits my Horse?

Most of our boots are available in Horse size, with the exception of our Dressage Boots which are available in Medium, Large and Extra Large and our Cross Country Boots which are available in Medium and Large. We also offer our 100% Leather Equitation Boots and 100% Leather Jump Boots in Medium/Large and in Pony Size. In general, the height, weight and breed of your horse in combination with the circumference of its leg, will provide you with an estimation of the appropriate boot size to try on your horse.
If you have a small horse with refined bones, perhaps a large pony or Arabian that weighs less than 1000 pounds, you'll probably need small/pony sized horse boots. Many horses require a smaller size boot on their front limbs and one size larger boot on their hind limbs.

Our 'Horse' size boot has been designed to fit Horses between 15.1h and up to 16.3h.
Most Thoroughbreds of average bone and an average height of about 16 hands will fit Majyk’s 'Horse' size boots.
On the smaller side, our horse size boots should accommodate most Quarter Horse and Morgan types standing anywhere from 15.1 to 15.3 hands, along with fine-boned and smaller Thoroughbreds. For larger horses, our adjustable straps and shell cavity also allow the boots to fit warmblood and sport horse types, although a horse 16.3H and larger or with very thick bones would likely not be a suitable candidate.

Vented Infinity Series Tendon Boot: has a height of 8 ¼" at the spine (back of the boot). This number does not include the soft liner which extends another ¾" at the bottom and ½" at the top. This is the crucial height to measure when fitting your horse. The length of the back of the boot should not interfere with the movement of your horse. The tendon boot has a depth of 3¾" at the bottom and 2 ½" at the top. This is a very generous depth but will fit most horses due to our shape forming 7 mm thick foam liner. The boot should fit most horses with canon bone circumference of 11" to 12".

Vented Infinity Series Hind Jump Boot: (open front): has a height of 5" at the spine (back of the boot). This number does not include the soft liner which extends another ¾" at the bottom and ½" at the top. The hind boot has a depth of 4 7/8" at the bottom and 3 1/4" at the top. This is a very generous depth but will fit most horses due to our shape forming 7 mm thick foam liner. The boot should fit most horses with canon bone circumference of 12" to 13".

Note* Our Vented Infinity Series with Velcro closures have been designed to fit a wide array of horses. This is especially good for riders who have multiple horses that may share boots.  If You look at the Velcro you will see that there are several stitch guidelines across the body of the Velcro. These are designed so that, if your horse is smaller and you prefer, you can cut any additional Velcro behind the stitch line for a more streamlined look.

How to Check the Fit of Horse Boots:
You should be able to slide one finger between the protective boot and the horse's leg. Your finger should feel snug between the two surfaces. If the boot is too big or too loose, dirt can get inside and cause abrasions, or slide downward where it may disrupt the horse's movement. If the boot is too tight, it can cause pressure on the horse's tendon. The length of a boot on your horse's leg should be checked as well. You don't want the boot to be so long that it rises to the back of a horse's knee and interferes with normal movement. It should, however, be long enough to cover most of the cannon bone area as well as the inside of the fetlock.

Tips:

·       When fastening horse boots, be sure to use even pressure on each strap as you work your way down the leg. Follow the manufacturer's instructions carefully for your type of boots, and be careful not to over-tighten them.

·       Remove boots from your horse's legs as soon as possible after your workout to allow any accumulated heat to escape and to allow the skin and hair to dry.

·       Keep the boots clean and free of accumulated dirt, grime and sweat which can be irritating to a horse's sensitive skin.
